Everything the polyline fixer does

Three ways people arrive here

From Illustrator or Inkscape

SVG exports almost always need polyline cleanup. Beziers become splines, closed shapes often lose their closed flag, and extra zero-length segments pile up around corners. One run through polyline makes the file cut on the first try.

From Fusion 360 or Rhino

Parametric CAD loves splines and ellipses. Lasers do not. The DXF export dialog in both tools has a "flatten curves" option but it is off by default. If you forgot to tick it, polyline is the fastest fix.

From an unknown source

Someone emailed you a DXF for a job. You open it in your CAM and nothing cuts. Drop it here first. The report tells you in one glance what is wrong (splines? open paths? text?) and the fixed file either solves it or shows you what still needs manual attention.

FAQ

What problems does the polyline fixer solve?

Unflattened SPLINE entities, open contours, self-intersections, duplicates, zero-length segments, unsupported entities.

Does the polyline fixer work on all DXF versions?

R12 through R2018, ASCII or binary. Output defaults to R12 ASCII POLYLINE.

Is this different from a DXF cleaner in LightBurn or Illustrator?

Yes. Those are interactive UI cleaners. polyline re-emits a fresh, ready-to-cut DXF file.

How do I know what the fixer changed?

The report card lists every issue by severity, and the before-canvas pulses each one in red (error) or amber (warning).

Is my file uploaded or stored?

Uploaded, processed in memory for up to 10 seconds, then dropped. Nothing is written to disk.
