What polyline does to your DXF

Many DXF files, especially ones exported from Illustrator, Inkscape, Fusion 360 or Rhino, contain a mix of SPLINE, ELLIPSE, CIRCLE and LINE entities. CAM software for lasers, routers and plotters often reads only POLYLINE and LWPOLYLINE. The gap between what designers export and what cutters import is where this tool lives.

When you drop a DXF above, we parse every entity, flatten curves to polylines within a 0.05 mm chord tolerance, close near-closed contours within a configurable gap tolerance, remove duplicate segments, and re-emit a single, clean DXF. Default output is R12 ASCII POLYLINE, which is the format Mozaik, Ruida, Trotec Job Control and basically every laser CAM accepts. R2000 LWPOLYLINE is one click away if you want the smaller, modern format.

FAQ

What is a polyline in DXF?

A polyline is a chained sequence of straight line segments stored as one entity. POLYLINE (R12) is universally supported; LWPOLYLINE (R2000+) is the compact modern variant.

Why does Mozaik want polylines, not splines?

Mozaik's DXF importer does not implement SPLINE entity parsing. If your DXF contains splines, Mozaik silently ignores them.

Will converting a DXF break my dimensions?

No. The 0.05 mm chord tolerance is below the kerf width of any laser cutter.

What file formats does polyline accept?

DXF files only (ASCII or binary, R12 through R2018). Max 20 MB. Nothing is stored on our servers.
